And it smells like hot dogs, fireworks, and FREEDOM!
I love the 4th of July. I always have. My hot dog consumption is restricted to only a few very specific occasions, the 4th of July being one of them. I think fireworks are romantic, and as lame as it sounds, I have my own “ooooh” and “aaaahhhh” track running through my mind at every fireworks display I attend. Plus, I enjoy the splash of color and the patriotic flare of the day. Any day where you can eat tubed meats, watch fireworks, pump the John Phillips Sousa and enjoy the not-at-all nerdy marching band,* and don your finest red, white, and blue is a great day in my book.
And after 9:10 this evening, I will have four glorious days off after three straight weeks without time off from work. When my alarm went off this morning my mind was racing with the possibilities. I can run. OMG, RUN!** I can sleep in.
I can get a jump on studying for my finals. I can cook and sit in the sun and enjoy time with Drew and the pup.
So, I’m forcing my way through this day with a smile on my face, and I hope you are too because the weekend is almost here!
*I was a band nerd. Don’t judge me.
**It has been way. too. long. I’m starting to notice jiggly bits.
