  1. The best surprise ever would be, if some kind individual decided to pay off all of my student loans.
  2. The week we rented a cottage in Muskegon along the channel and it poured the entire time, but we played the music loud and enjoyed ridiculously silly ping pong tournaments while the storms raged outside is one of my most favorite memories.
  3. The hardest, but most worthwhile thing I’ve ever done was moving to New York City from Michigan. It forced me out of my comfort zone and led me to the wonderful place I find myself in now.
  4. The best part of my day is when I leave work and call my mom to chat or right before bed when Rob and I make time to video chat for a few.
  5. Something I like that most people don’t is the morning. I’m a morning person.
  6. Something I am willing to fight for is my family.
  7. Something you might not know about me is that I played flute and was a full time/four year band geek while I was in high school. (I even considered trying out for a spot in the University of Michigan Marching Band.)
Play along!

1. Something that is very near and dear to my heart is, family. I adore my family. They’re the best bunch of crazies I know.

2. Health is good cause to celebrate.

3. The most fun I ever had was road tripping to New Orleans to watch the Sugar Bowl. Game day was the most fun I think I’ve ever had. (Look out NOLA, I will be back…)

4. True friends are the ones who know you inside-out/back-to-front and still love you, will call you on your bullshit, and who always manage to pick up right where you left off with them after spending time apart. (I’m fortunate to have a pretty awesome bunch of these.)

5. Something that makes me terribly happy is dancing – but not the choreographed kind. Just the goofy, flail around because it feels good to move and everyone should know you’re happy kind.

6. A good way to spend a sunny day is wandering around the city with an iced coffee in hand or parked at a table outdoors with friends and a nice cold beer.

7. My favorite celebratory food is cake. It isn’t a celebration without cake. My coworkers and I would designate random days where we would celebrate cake o’clock and we’d wander down the street to one of the cafes to indulge. (We often found really mundane things to celebrate. For example: your PCR is done and it worked! Let’s get cake! It’s the little things…)

Play along! Find blanks here today and every Friday!

1. My bedtime routine includes, brushing and flossing my teeth, gutting it out for 1 minute with Listerine, pouring a glass of water, and then climbing into my bed and snuggling in.

2. I am really excited for all of the amazing people I get to see starting today through May 15 AND for the 25k I’m running next weekend. Let’s do this!

3. I can’t stand  eggs  because I have never been able to stomach them. I’m not sure what it is about them exactly (it’s probably a combination of the taste and texture), but they make me gag.

4. My idea of relaxation would be a day spent curled up on the couch with a book and a coffee, or sprawled out in the sun on a warm, sandy beach. Both sound pretty spectacular.

5. If I had an extra $50, I would go buy myself some cute new flats or the dress that I fell in love with at H&M.

6. The best thing about a bloggy friend is that they understand the need/desire to take photos of everything to document it “for the blog”.

7. A recipe I’ve been dying to try is this Cheesy Jalapeño Popper Baked Stuffed Chicken. Yummmm.

Play along and fill out some blanks of your own!

1. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is, take a big stretch and then head straight to the coffee maker that is hopefully full, as it is set to start brewing a few minutes before my alarm.

2. I can hardly wait for May 4-15! Rob will be visiting me and then I’m flying back to Michigan for my 25k and lots of quality time with family and close friends.

3. The quickest way to my heart is laughter because what’s better than sharing a good laugh? (Mine is apparently recognizable and occurs often enough that my boss knew I was at the table behind his at a restaurant last week… He spent most of his meal trying to get my attention and I was oblivious. Oops.)

4. A little known fact about me is that I have never had stitches but I have broken a few fingers/toes, a rib, and my right ankle.

5. The best part about my job is the amount of confidence my boss places in me. It allows me to work fairly independently with occasional instruction. It’s also great to be surrounded by so many brilliant minds.

6. Something I just couldn’t live without is my phone (I know, sorry) but hear me out… I use my phone for just about everything. It’s my connection to people I love, I use it to listen to music while wandering or taking the train, and it comes in quite handy when I find myself in an unfamiliar neighborhood and I need to whip out Google maps.

7. Something useful that I wish I knew how to do is my hair. If it doesn’t involve me putting it in a ponytail or straightening it, I’m useless… It would be nice to be able to do my hair for fancy occasions or to wear it differently from time to time. Maybe someday when I grow up.

Fill out your own blanks!

1. Today is a great day because, I negotiated some time off and finalized an experiment schedule that helps me take said time off and still get the required work done!

2. Tomorrow I will run my 12 miler and enjoy the nicer weather before the massive amount of rain we’re supposed to get rolls in on Sunday.

3. My favorite time of day is the morning (once I’m up and moving) because it’s kind of a quiet, relaxed time. I like to give myself enough time to collect myself and get ready while enjoying a cup of coffee before heading out into whatever madness the day holds.

4. Sometimes you just have to splurge and buy yourself that cute top or those shoes. What good is life if you can’t “treat yoself” every once in a while?

5. A song that I just can’t get enough of lately is Away Frm U by Oberhofer.

6. My favorite accessory is my claddagh ring. My sisters each have one and it’s a nice reminder of the love, loyalty, and friendship we share.

7. My favorite thing about this week was Monday night when I had drinks with good friends at a rooftop bar. (I even spotted stars! STARS, you guys!)

Join the fun and fill in your own blanks!

1. Today is a good day because (it’s Friday!) I managed to do my hair in record time this morning, and because the weekend promises: beautiful weather, a 14-mile run (it’s going to be awesome), and the University of Michigan football team’s annual Spring Game.

2. The best thing I did all week was Skype for HOURS with my sister Laura on Wednesday night.

3. The current weather is cool but sunny and it makes me feel happy. (Any morning I can leave my apartment wearing my shades for the walk to the train station is bound to make for a great day.)

4. The best thing about spring is when seemingly overnight, all of the trees are colorful and flowering, and the sunlight pouring through my bedroom window when my alarm goes off in the morning.

5. A fashion trend that I’m dying to try out for spring is the mint green thing and colored jeans. (I just might go buy a pair after work today and maybe I’ll pick up some mint nail polish while I’m at it.)

6. A person who made me smile this week was Rob! He booked flights to New York to visit in early May. Udabes, RB.

7. The most delicious thing I ate all week was Easter candy! I have a sweet tooth, but I’ve been very good about not buying candy lately. (If I don’t buy it, it’s not sitting around for me to devour.) However, it was Easter so I allowed myself to indulge. Note: I’m convinced that Reese’s do, in fact, taste best when they are egg-shaped.

Fill in Your Own Blanks and join the Friday fun!

  1. My greatest strength is my ability to maintain a generally positive outlook on life. There’s a lapse here and there (we all have them), but I generally maintain a genuinely sunny disposition.
  2. My greatest weakness is my tendency toward being a bit of a pushover.
  3. People always compliment me on my dimples. For as long as I can remember people have commented on them. They’re giant and pretty hard to miss.
  4. If you found me procrastinating you’d probably find me playing Words With Friends or scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed/Tumblr dashboard.
  5. The most cozy place in all the world is my bed! I love my bed. It’s so hard to get up and at ‘em in the morning.
  6. Something new that I tried recently was I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t tried (or can’t remember having tried) anything new recently… Must fix that.
  7. This weekend I would like to knock out my 11 mile training run with last week’s same energy and strength, and try something new.

As always, you can play along! “Fill In The Bank Friday” blanks can be found here every Friday!

1. My favorite color is green or purple. I have a hard time deciding on just one.

2. My home decor color palette includes a lot of earth tones. Beige with reds, browns and greens.

3. Other people always tell me I look good in the color green. I don’t know if it has something to do with my blonde hair or if it’s because it makes my normally gray eyes look exceptionally green.

4. The color I detest is pink. I can’t wear pink (not that I would choose to) and it’s just a little too precious for me. I wasn’t super girlie when I was little, but I did have a penchant for Barbie and my closet was filled with various articles of pink clothing bearing grass stains.

5. If you were to look in my closet most of the colors you’d see would be pretty monochromatic. (I live in New York after all…) I have a lot of grays, whites and blacks.

6. A color that I simply cannot pull off no matter how hard I try is cream or nudes. I’m too fair skinned and it washes me out.

7. The color of my favorite dress is kind of a cross between midnight blue and eggplant. (A deep purple?) I’m wearing it today in fact!

  1. The highlight of my week was eating something and not feeling nauseated afterward. Baby steps! Also, finally ordering my new dresser. (Thanks Mom and Dad! Happy birthday to me!)
  2. If I had to classify my interior design aesthetic it would be well… I guess I don’t really have an aesthetic at the moment. I feel like an aesthetic requires a sense of permanence in a place and the constant moving one does living in NYC doesn’t exactly lend itself to the development of an aesthetic when it’s necessary to buy and sell furniture annually to fit your new space.
  3. My first vehicle was a 1996 Cutlass Supreme. It was gold and liked to over-heat on the regular.
  4. An item I need to have in my day in order to function is usually I would say coffee, but I’ve been without for a while, so I would say my next go-to is probably my phone because my days would be pretty much unbearable without music.
  5. My favorite way to waste time is perusing Tumblr and Facebook. I can’t help it. I’m a social media whore.
  6. Right now I could really go for coffee and a doughnut. Yummmm…
  7. This weekend I will be resting!
Play Along! “Fill In The Blank Friday” blanks courtesy of The Little Things We Do

    1.  I started my blog because I wanted to start running seriously and it seemed like a good way to keep myself accountable. It also allowed me to fill my family and friends in on my day-to-day life in New York City.

    2.   One thing I love seeing on other blogs pictures. Especially of the “every day life” variety. Sometimes a picture can say what words can’t.

    3.  Something I love about blogging the outlet it provides and the community. I’m fortunate enough to “follow” some really wonderful individuals who are full of wisdom and who succeed in making me smile daily.

    4. A favorite blog post of mine is probably any one of my half marathon race recaps. I think the NYC Half race recap was the most emotional for me to write/go back to read, and continues to be one of my favorites. It was an incredible race that meant a great deal to me.

    5. Something my friends in real life know about me that I’ve never before mentioned on my blog is I’m sure I’ve mentioned just about everything on my blog, so I’ll list a few: I hate (really, I hate them) eggs but secretly wish that I liked them, I’ve never had stitches *knocks on wood*, I bite my nails if they aren’t painted, I’ve broken a rib and my right ankle, I’m pretty sensitive about certain things and I cry during the sad parts (or really happy parts) in movies, and I like to substitute my friends’ names for other words in songs to make it their own personal version.

    6.  My new favorite blogs to read are (they aren’t new, but they have new things going on!) my friend Rebecca’s blog (moving to NYC THIS WEEKEND!), and my friend Melissa’s blog (just had a darling baby girl on Wednesday!), and the blog of family friends who live in South Korea. Always nice to get updates and see pictures of Natey, Shelby!

    7.  Some things I tend to avoid doing on my blog are being negative (I’m sure I am negative sometimes, but I’m more prone to optimism and smiling) and taking myself too seriously.

    Now you should play along!
