David Guetta - Kid Cudi,
Memories [Explicit]

Tonight’s Redemption Run Brought To You By: David Guetta + Kid Cudi Memories

Can I please tell everyone how much I love running to this song? Hills? Ha! You’re mine. Person running in front of me? Eat my dust. Tourists on a carriage ride? You know you’re impressed.*

All the crazy shit I did tonight
Those will be the best memories
I just wanna let it go for the night
That would be the best therapy for me

*Ok, that’s a bit much.

Work continues to be unpleasant and stressful, so the opportunities I’ve had to go running this week have been much appreciated. Even though it was raining steadily when I got home today, I decided to man up and get out there. I love the rain and I love running in the rain.

The run was wonderful. I went iPod-less which was probably for the best. There weren’t many people out and while I always feel safe down here, it’s probably best that I stay alert when I do my nighttime runs. I did my usual route and went out really fast. This has become a bad habit. I’m not sure if it’s just the excitement to be free of the workday and other obligations or what, but I take off like a bat out of hell… The wet leaves littering the Hudson Esplanade were a bit slick and I slowed it down after the first two miles. (I also decided to slow down because I didn’t feel like I could sustain the pace for the full 4 miles…) All in all, it was a great run and I feel much better. The stress of the day and of this week just kind of melted away. The other day when I wrote about my running being hit or miss… tonight was a hit.

1 World Trade was lost in the fog…

After my run, I looked like a drowned rat happy, water-logged runner…

Garmin breaks it on down…

(I was actually really surprised that my Garmin picked up [and kept] a signal with all of the rain and cloud cover… *snaps for Garmin*)

Kanye West,
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy [Explicit]

Tonight’s Run Brought to You By: Kanye West (+Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj) Monster (NSFW)

I don’t generally like Kanye (I know, I know…) but I cannot get enough of this song. Since getting the album in December, I have put it on every single one of my running playlists and it never fails to give me that pick up.

Tonight’s workout was supposed to be just strength training, but I decided to tag a 2 mile run on the beginning. I mean, you wouldn’t lift with muscles you haven’t warmed up would you? and I wanted to get a good sweat going, so I did! 2 miles in 18:40 followed by everybody’s favorite… PLANKS! I did 4 sets at 45 seconds each and then channeled my high school diving coach and did some of our old dry land workout. Something tells me I will be paying for it all tomorrow morning, and that’s fine by me. I feel amazing tonight.

Aaahhhh, I’m a muthafucking monster!

Boo-fuckin’-yah.

Ok, 4 miles on the treadmill at 1% incline — no biggie. But these 4 miles were divine. I have never felt so great during a run on the treadmill. I started with 5 minutes walking to get my legs all limbered up, and off I went.

I actually considered re-running this weekend’s race (or running 5 miles sans Central Park hills) to see if I could beat this weekend’s time, and then I realized that training runs exist for a reason. There’s no need to kill myself trying to PR during a training run. Sure, it would have been awesome to feel like I had redeemed myself after Sunday’s showing, but why push myself so hard and risk injury? I’ll save that PR for another day, another race.
